Ready, Set, BABY

This class has transitioned to a virtual live conference platform until further notice as we continue to evaluate and manage the health and safety of our patients and visitors.

Ready, Set, BABY is a class for expectant parents to learn the basics of taking care of a newborn baby.  It is led by experienced pediatric nurses who make the class enjoyable and easy to understand by using both personal and clinical experience.  Some of the topics include:

  • What to expect at the hospital
  • Car seat safety
  • Infant feeding and sleep
  • Bathing and skincare
  • Home safety
  • Preparing for siblings
  • And more

It’s a great idea to take time to prepare for the big change’s babies bring by taking our Ready, Set, BABY class.

  • I thought the class was very informative and helpful.  Katie was knowledgeable and her sense of humor helped to keep the flow lighthearted.  I thought it was helpful that she went over the schedule of visits for the first two years and provided a little overview of the care to be expected.  I would definitely recommend this class to others!
  • It was a good class and Katie was very knowledgeable.  We’re looking forward to using PHA when our girls arrive!
  • Katie was very good at explaining everything and also relating it to real life events.  I think by her being real and honest about certain topic or things she has experienced helped a lot with understanding.

CPR Training

There is no better time than right now to learn the techniques that can be used to save lives. Accidents can happen no matter where you are, whether it’s in the workplace, at home, school, or even on vacation.  When you run into these situations, wouldn’t you like to be prepared instead of standing around wondering what to do?

If you have children, think about the accidents that they have and all of the potential dangers they face each day.  This is why everyone should enroll in some type of CPR training.

This American Heart Association CPR certified hands only class is designed for young adults and adults who want to learn and practice CPR training for infants, children and adults.

The class will teach you the confidence and skills you will need to save a life in a real emergency situation.

Knowing CPR, starting CPR, and calling 911 is the key to help saving lives!  Prepare yourself and your family before an emergency.

This class is taught by trained professional, Maryfrances DeSteno, APRN, CS, CCRN.  It’s perfect for new parents, grandparents, babysitters and nannies who want to learn how to protect their family and friends.

Effective CPR, provided immediately, can double a victim’s chance of survival!

In support of our commitment to the well-being of all our patients and families we created the Mommy, Daddy & Me Networking Group for new moms, dads and their babies (birth to 6 months).

This is an informal hour of Q & A and age appropriate topics hosted by one of our healthcare professionals.  It is an opportunity to meet other new parents and their babies at the same stage of life to compare notes, share laughter and experiences.  The clinician will address a variety of topics in a safe, nonjudgmental environment, bringing their compassion, humor, personal and clinical expertise to the conversation.

The group meets EVERY Friday in our Fairfield Center office. We hope you enjoy this time to share experiences, concerns and have your questions answered.

Breastfeeding 101

Please Note: As a precaution against the spread of the Coronavirus, we are suspending this class until further notice.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please email the organizer at register@phagroup.com with any questions.

Lactation classes are taught by our Certified Lactation Consultant, Dominique Harper, PA.  This class is designed to provide parents with an understanding of the advantages and benefits of breastfeeding.  It teaches the basic mechanisms of breastfeeding pertaining to latch, milk supply and pumping. You will learn how to breastfeed:

  • frequency of feed
  • duration of feed
  • feeding dues
  • feeding log
  • weight gain
  • maintaining an adequate milk supply

This class will not answer every question.  You will learn to breastfeed, just as you learn to parent, a little at a time.  We are here for you each step of the way.

Comments:

  • “The class provided the information I expected.  The explanations were straight forward and helpful.  I would recommend this class to others.  I would also encourage new moms to bring their support partners with them.  One of the more valuable aspects was level setting with my husband so he understands the commitment that breastfeeding is.”
  • Me and my husband both thoroughly enjoyed the class!!!  She was amazing.”
  • “I enjoyed last night’s class.  It was very informative.  I liked how Dominique kept asking if we had questions.”
  • Dominique had a lot of information to share.  She was able to answer all our questions.  It was great that she is right within the practice, which is reassuring if an issue should arise.”
  • “As a first time mom I crave all the information and it was great to get it from a reliable source.”
  • Dominique provided real-life experiences and joked about certain things to make it more conversational.  The topics were all about questions I had going into the session.  It was very informative and would recommend it!!”
